Programme 2018 Gisborne East Coast Camellia Society

April 22:  AGM to be held at Pat Flockhart’s home 16 Graham Road.

                There will also be a minishow.  Sasanqua’s will be out and we all have these lovely early

                 bloomers in our garden so bring along some blooms.  There may even be a few small hybrids


                 Staging starts at 1.00pm. AGM 2.15pm.

                 We are always looking for new committee members so please think about coming on board.

                 Raewyn Hannah will demonstrate making small posies that we all can make. Useful to take to

                 hospital or as small gifts. If you can bring flowers, seed heads and foliage it would be

                 appreciated, as we would like all those that wish to make one to take home.

                 Please bring something for afternoon tea.

                 There will also be a raffle.

May 20:  Meeting at Robin Bennetts home.  To get to Robin’s home - go down Nelson Road past Lytton.

                 High School. Continue until you get to the large sign for the Sonrise School. Turn right and 

                 drive down the small road to the end. Robin’s home is at the end to the right. It is a two

                 storied house .There is plenty of parking.

                  Mini Show and staging starts at 1 pm.

                 Meeting will commence 2.15 pm.

                 There will be a short talk on the care and culture of camellias.

                 Please bring something for afternoon tea.

                 There will also be a raffle

 June 24:  Meeting at Pat Flockhart’s home. Mini Show, staging starts at 1 pm.

                   Meeting 2.15 pm.

                  Guest speaker   Hamish Cheetham.  Hamish will talk on fertilisers to use in the garden

                  and to identify plant problems from unhealthy leaves .Bring any foliage that you may have     

                  that does not look healthy.

                  Please bring something for afternoon tea.

                  There will also be a raffle.

July 22:   Mid-winter luncheon at Kerry & Paul Smiths.    Lunch provided by the committee, with other

                  members to be asked to bring something to have with tea and coffee.

                  There will be a small charge to cover costs. There will also be a raffle.

                   Mini Show. Staging from 11.30am. There should be a good choice of   flowering

                   Camellias at this time.


                   Lunch 1pm.     


August:   National Show 17-18th New Plymouth

                  Local Show   25-27 th                  

                  If you are a Hort member you will have received the new schedule.

                  Otherwise ring Pat 8686255 for details

                  It would be great if members could enter some blooms. This does make for a better show.


October 28: We will visit Neil Anderson’s beautiful garden in Kingfisher Drive. Neil has developed

                   a winning garden and has won many sections in the annual Garden Competition.

                   After this we will proceed to Ryman to view the gardens there. We will also have afternoon   

                   tea there provided by Ryman.

                   Meet at Balance Street Village at 2 pm. It may be helpful to fill cars to go to Neil’s garden as

                   Kingfisher Drive may not have a lot of parking. We will then return to the Village to pick up

                   cars and then proceed to Ryman.

                   We will have a raffle

November18:  We will meet at The Vines for lunch. After lunch we will visit Sue Field’s gardens.

                    9 Jobson Road Manutuke. We can fill up cars and leave some at The Vines until we return.

                   Sue grows flowers to sell including a large range of   David Austin roses. They should be at

                    their best at this time of the year.   More details of times later.

                    We will have a raffle
